Interested in inviting your church to support you financially?
Here is a template you can use to provide your church with this special opportunity to serve your family.
To My Church Family:
I come to you with a request. As you know, foster care and adoption are very urgent matters in our family. We have opened our home and our lives to care for children who have been either temporally or permanently orphaned. This is a trying-yet-rewarding experience, and we are thankful that God uses us to practice “true” religion care for children He loves.
One of the greatest blessings of being a foster/adoptive family is the community of other foster/adoptive families. While we try to provide as normal a life as possible for our kids, we deal with issues that many biological families rarely face: issues like attachment, biological parents, case workers, trauma from abuse, loss of identity, and many others. So it is a blessing and a privilege to be around other foster/adoptive families who know what our world is like and are able to encourage us, teach us, and remind us of why we obeyed God’s call to love these children in the first place.
We have an opportunity to be around hundreds of foster/adoptive families the weekend of February 23 & 24 at HOPE Conference 2018, put on by the Central Arkansas Orphan Coalition and hosted this year by Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock. The HOPE Conference is becoming one of the best local sources of education and support for foster and adoptive families in Arkansas. It will feature small breakout sessions, conversations over meals with foster and adoptive families, and teaching from national and local experts. Keynote and breakout speakers will share their experience and tools throughout the two day conference.
The conference is broken up into two days. Friday includes two pre-intensive sessions, Friday night and Saturday includes keynote speakers and over twenty breakout topics. The entire registration costs for both of us to attend this event will be $80, in addition to travel expenses and childcare.
You can learn all about this event by visiting their website at hopeconferencearkansas.org.
We believe The HOPE Conference will be a tremendous blessing to our family, but in order to attend, we need your support. We ask that you, as leaders of our church family, please prayerfully consider helping us attend the HOPE Conference. You can do this by making helping us financially by providing part or all of our registration costs, travel expense and/or providing babysitting for our children so we can attend. And please continue praying for our family as we learn to navigate life as a foster/adoptive family.
